The conservation of a dilapidated colonial bungalow with the addition of staff quarters, dining and kitchen, shaped Kovilpatti guest house as it stands today. This company guest house is simple, yet, functional. The sloped tile roof, the timber columns, the arched openings in the verandah, and the jaali work forming the parapet wall work together to retain the historical character of the building. To make the bedrooms more adaptable for the guests, many types of furniture layouts are provided. The rooms in the back of the building are linked by a spiral staircase and have a private dining space, making them ideal for larger families.
The remaining rooms operate individually with shared living and dining areas on the ground and first floors. The floor laid with native Athangudi tiles and the columns made from locally sourced timber add to the appeal of this company guest house. The interior is made to look bright with the Athangudi tiles. Thus, the subtle lighting and vivid medley of colours help to accentuate the vintage feel of the interiors.
