May 24, 2011 at 6:30:00 PM

"The article is an open letter by S. Gopalakrishnan on the Muziris Heritage Project to the next Chief Minister of Kerala, to educate him about Kerala's three-thousand-year history. The Dutch Ambassador to India, Bob Hinz, made a short speech in Delhi, and that prompted him to write this letter. The article revolves around the speech made by Bob Hinz and what he said about the history of Kerala.

It can be seen that Muziris had an active commercial relationship with more than 30 countries. In very few places in the world where it has remained a centre of commerce for a long period of time, and in one particular case, it has lost its relevance forever. All the major commercial centres of the world had continuity in history, so their historical records remained intact. However, in 1341, due to the rapidity and flood of the Periyar river, this port city disappeared from the world map. It is this trend that makes the Muziris project a dream come true. This dream is going to create an opportunity for the nations of the world to rebuild their old ships and make a new pilgrimage to Muziris.

A key feature of the Muziris project that differentiates it from research conducted elsewhere in India is its grassroots participation. The people of the project area try to see themselves as a continuation of the ancient civilization. One of the greatest strengths of the Muziris project is that it is the youngest geological exploration. We are able to use all modern learning materials in Muziris."
