The district administration and the Tourism Department claim that the initiative aimed at restoring and maintaining Muziris, the modern-day Kodungalloor, would allow both visitors and locals to experience the sociocultural and religious imprints of a great era in the history of the State. The initiative would aim to tackle tourism holistically, promoting the region's economic growth and development at the same time. The objective is to see the monuments as a whole, rather than in isolation, and to design them in a way that engages the local population and incorporates the different suggestions made in connection with other developmental efforts. It would be beneficial to revive memories of the past through historical research, environmental initiatives, craft and art form creation, professions, and other communal activities.
