ROYAL VISIT FROM NETHERLANDS TO KOCHI
Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the Mattancherry Palace in Kochi which is in the tentative list of World Heritage List. First time seeing the King who is in power.
There was a brief function at the Palace where Conservation Architect Paul Meurs, Programme Director of the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency Jinna Smit, Prof Kesavan Veluthat, and Prof Michael Tharakan, Chairman KCHR spoke. A video on the shared heritage of Kerala and Netherlands was shown to the Royal Couple which was produced by Mohan Kumar Kallayil.
Me and Nowshad Padiyath held discussions with the Dutch Delegation consisting of Conservation Architect, Paul Meurs, Jinna Smit of the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency and Petra Smulders of Royal Netherlands Embassy. The idea is to have more collaborations in the future for the Muziris Heritage Project.
