Pulicat Crafting History
January 9, 2013, 6:30:00 PM
Pulicat or Pazhaverkadu, a seashore town in Thiruvallur District of Tamil Nadu state, demonstrates strong tints of historic vibrancy. Remains of built heritage, trails of Portuguese, Dutch and English culture – the once-animated seashore-town today stands neglected and forgotten.
Along with Xavier Benedict and Kiran M Keswani, Benny Kuriakose writes about the history of Pulicat and plans out the architectural conservation for the historic town. Restoration of the old Dutch Parish House and Dutch Cemetery are part of the conservation agenda. Excerpt from the book "Heritage as an Asset for Inner - City Development" By nai010 Publishers.
