FIELDWORK IN ARCHITECTURAL SCHOOLS

Fieldwork in Architectural Schools
The practical exposure in the five year architecture course in India is much less. Two decades ago, there was no internship or even preparing measured drawings of a traditional building. Although things would have improved over the last few years, I think it is a must for the architecture students to take part in the actual construction of a building. When I did work with Laurie Baker, there were many days when I had done manual work at the site. My son Kevin Benny Kuriakose and twelve of his classmates in Oslo School of Architecture and Design did design and construct two classrooms in Kenya as part of their course. The school did give some money, but the students raised the balance money. Some photos.
