Nampoothiri House in Malappuram District

Yesterday, I and Dr. Deborah Thiagarajan, founder of DakshinaChitra visited one house in Malappuram District to see whether it can be transplanted to DakshinaChitra. It is comparatively a small house with two courtyards, but had the essential components such as the cattle shed, entrance gate, bathing tank, "pathayappura", "agrasala" etc. But it was in a very dilapidated state with leakage, termite attack etc. Nobody had lived in this house for more than 8 years which led to the deterioration. We are still a long way from creating awareness about conserving our architectural heritage.
