Authenticity in the Framework of Contemporary Conservation

Conservation can be perceived in so many different ways. It could be to beautify the historic setting or as a tool for development by integrating the people into the conservation process. Society is slowly undergoing a transition towards redefining conservation in a positive manner, which is happening due to a shift in people's mindsets.
This talk by Dr. Benny Kuriakose at SPA Bhopal takes two of his projects as case studies: the Panicker House and Mangala Heritage Home, on how to approach conservation in such a way that its authenticity is not lost. He also talks about his journey from raising questions during his master's to implementing them into his design. His journey involved understanding guidelines from across the world and finding the right approach to practising conservation in India.
