"Over the years, Muziris has transformed into a haven for various art forms, notably performing art forms. Chavittunatakam is one such art form believed to have its roots in Gothuruth. However, there is a lack of spaces that document the components of the art. In this article by S. Anandan published in The Hindu, Project consultant Dr Benny Kuriakose talks about the proposal to convert the parsonage of Gothuruth St Sebastian's Church into a Chavittunatakam Museum as a part of the Heritage Conservation Project.

It was an afterthought that nudged the authorities of the St. Sebastian’s Forane Church at Gothuruth to have a meeting with the working team of the Muziris Heritage Project (MHP) on the church complex. “So, basically, you want to throw me out of this place?” the jovial priest, Fr. Tom Rajesh Palliyil, asked in jest, as the conservation consultant Benny Kuriakose explained the plan in detail. “We will wait for the detailed proposal before taking a call on this,” said Mr Kaimathuruthy, Parish Council member and former government servant.
The tiny island has already become a haven for arts, more so for performing arts and a Chavittunatakam performing space built with assistance from Cochin Shipyard was opened by actor Mammootty the other day."
