Casa Rojo Residence A Sustainable Home - ARCHITECTURE UPDATE

An article featured by Architecture Update on the residence Casa Rojo, designed by Benny Kuriakose and Associates, a beach house on East Coast Road, Chennai, is a blend of contemporary and traditional elements. At Casa Rojo, creating a style that could be termed "timeless" encompasses the features of clinical comfort, cost-effectiveness, eco-friendliness, and sustainability. The essence of the design for this residential project was to create a space that would exemplify the feelings of well-being and tranquillity.

It was to be a place where one could work, play, or socialise without disturbing the harmony of different elements encompassed within this space. At the same time, it provided personal elements in tune with the lifestyle and personalities of the occupants. The site was an old orchard with plenty of mango and other fruit trees. The plan of the house incorporated the existing orchard. Although the plot is long and narrow, the plan has taken care to position the house in such a way that it overcomes any feeling of constriction and, at the same time, provides a spacious backyard.
