Dhananjayans House - The Hindu

One of the eminent newspapers, The Hindu, takes Dr Benny Kuriakose on a trip down memory lane, to elaborate on the changes made to the 40-year-old house of veteran dancers VP and Shantha Dhananjayan. The article named “lines to break the monotony” explains in detail how a stylized residence, a dance school and a photo studio were accommodated within the same compound, without compromising on privacy.
Instead of tearing down the house and its memories, Benny had reserved the soul of the house and converted it into a traditional contemporary creation. To begin, Benny added a sloping, tile-roofed verandah on the first floor, with steps that circle around to lead to the front yard. Satyajit, the couple's photographer son, suggested that the sun shades be extended all the way around the building rather than left piecemeal over the windows. This connects the house as a whole while also creating an interesting visual effect. Colourfully upholstered classical furniture completes the ambience. To learn more, read the full article here!
