School of Engineering Design
Four class rooms, which are flexible with the good lighting an ventilation and twenty one faculty rooms including Head of the departments rooms with provision of air conditioning, a product exhibition room which is air conditioned is to be found the left side as one enters the building, 25 seated air conditioned conference hall and 13 labs for various subjects were designed so as to provide a world class infrastructure. This is one of the projects done along with architect Jeevan.
School of Engineering Design building designed by Jeevan V and Benny Kuriakose is one of the buildings in IITM, built for Department of Engineering Design. It is a four storied building with courtyards which permits cross ventilation in each room. The building provides good day lighting and natural ventilation in each room. Use of sunshades on all sides of the building is an interesting features of the building. The use of louvers cut-down the solar radiation. The vast courtyards are linked with the nature outside. Rainwater harvesting is used in the building so as to supply water for different uses.
