Tarawad

2003

A home that takes one back to their childhood, Tarawad, which translates to a traditional ancestral home in Malayalam, weaves together the nostalgia and soul of Kerala architecture. This 25 cent plot of land situated on the coast of Bay of Bengal, captures the glorious past through an open courtyard held up by Chettinad stone pillars, a spacious rear verandah overlooking a private garden and ‘charupadi’, a built-in timber seating that enables a much-needed unwind in harmony with nature. The use of recycled doors and windows welcomes the light of day into the space.
